The Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer says she expects the number of people sickened by a multistate salmonella outbreak caused by raw eggs to grow. Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says so far there have been no salmonella cases reported in Fond du Lac County. Wisconsin health officials initiated a recall of eggs following the outbreak of salmonella infections among 65 people in nine states that originated on a Wisconsin farm. Forty two people in Wisconsin have been infected so far.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
