9-21-24 madison woman charged in drug overdose death of waupun prison inmate

A Madison woman has been arrrested in connection with the death of an inmate at the Waupun prison.  Thirty seven year old  Janelle Hill faces a charge of  First Degree Reckless Homicide.   This charge stems from an investigation that started in June, 2022 when an inmate at the Waupun Correctional Institution  died from a drug overdose. During an autopsy latex balloons were recovered from the victim that contained a suspected mixture of cocaine and fentanyl.   Investigators say these balloons were delivered to the victim from Hill the day before his death during a visit.
