Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway announced Wednesday that she has placed City Clerk Maribeth Witzel-Behl on administrative leave pending the outcome of a city investigation. The Madison city clerk’s office discovered 67 unprocessed ballots on Nov. 12 and another 125 uncounted ballots on Dec. 2 but didn’t notify the Wisconsin Elections Commission until Dec. 18. The commission launched its own investigation in January and plans to depose city workers, including Witzel-Behl.
