MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Leaders from southeastern Wisconsin and Democratic state lawmakers say Governor Scott Walker should immediately approve the Menominee tribe’s proposed casino in Kenosha because it would put people back to work. They came together Wednesday to put pressure on Walker to approve the casino. The Bureau of Indian Affairs gave its OK for the casino a year ago but Walker has until February 19th to sign off on it.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
