todayAugust 28, 2014

The Fond du Lac County Health Department reports a dead crow found in Fond du Lac County has tested positive for West Nile virus.  Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says this is the first bird that tested positive for the virus locally since surveillance for the mosquito-transmitted virus began May first.  Mueller says West Nile virus is spread to humans through the bite of an infected mosquito.  Mosquitoes acquire the virus by feeding on infected birds.
