The Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer says there may already be cases of an uncommon respiratory virus in Wisconsin even though the virus has not been officially confirmed here. Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says the EV68 virus can cause difficulty breathing…has been confirmed in a dozen states and has sent dozens of young children to hospitals and urgent care centers in the Midwest. Mueller says its probably only a matter of time before the virus is confirmed in Wisconsin. Mueller says the virus resembles an intense common cold that tends to become severe in children with asthma.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
