MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Doctors suspect there are at least nine Wisconsin cases of the respiratory and stomach virus that’s hospitalized hundreds of children around the country. Samples of the nine suspected cases in the Madison area were sent to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Dr. Sharyl Paley at Bayshore Pediatrics says her clinic has seen a lot of respiratory illnesses in an outpatient setting.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
