MADISON, Wis. (AP) — First lady Michelle Obama is rallying young voters in Wisconsin’s governor’s race, saying if they show up to vote Republican Gov. Scott Walker can be defeated. Obama appeared at a rally near the University of Wisconsin campus. College students stood behind Obama on the stage as she urged young people to vote in the election for Mary Burke, saying she will fight to make college more affordable and raise the minimum wage. She said, “If women and minorities and young people show up, Mary wins.”

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
