A Fond du lac man arrested in connection with a series of home invasion has pleaded no guilty by reason of mental disease or defect. Lucas Leffel entered the pleas to seven counts of burglary and attempted second degree sexual assault during an arraignment hearing in Fond du lac County Circuit Court. Police Chief Bill Lamb says Leffel has admitted to entering four homes in the southeast side of town while naked. Leffel is being held in jail on $250,000 cash bond.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
