10-9-14 high speed chase suspect enters not guilty plea in dodge county

A 19 year old suspect involved in a chase with police in Fond du Lac and Dodge Counties has pleaded not guilty to charges he faces in Dodge County .  Maxwell Decker of Berlin is charged with burglary-arm self with a dangerous weapon, theft, taking and driving a vehicle without the owner’s consent, and three counts of bail jumping. The incident unfolded on a Saturday night in August when the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a reckless driver.  Sheriff’s Captain Rick Olig says a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle traveling southbound on Highway 175 matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle. A pursuit ensued as the vehicle continued south on 175.  The pursuit ended when the vehicle lost control and went into a ditch in Dodge County .  This vehicle was determined to be stolen from the City of Berlin . The driver of the vehicle fled on foot and proceeded to take another vehicle from the vicinity of the crash.  Again, a pursuit ensued with Fond du Lac and Dodge County deputies, this time on Highway 151, and it ended in a crash, with the suspect fleeing on foot and eluding authorities.  While investigating the second vehicle theft, a third vehicle was discovered stolen by Fond du Lac County deputies in their jurisdiction.  Then on Sunday morning, a Town of Trenton resident reported a burglary where a firearm, ammunition, and a vehicle were stolen.  Decker was taken into custody in Jefferson County .  A scheduling conference has been set for November 13^th.
