A Beaver Dam man charged following a disagreement over a transaction initiated on Craigslist has been bound over for trial. Probable cause was found at a preliminary hearing Friday for Carlos Acevedo on charges of disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property and battery. Assistant police chief Steve Klein says the incident on Meadow Lane was not a home invasion. Klein says Acevedo drove to Fond du Lac to sell record albums to a Fond du Lac couple who posted an ad on Craigslist. Klein says a physical confrontation took place between Acevedo and the homeowner following an argument over the selling price of the albums.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
