MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A judge has declined to release videos of Republican attorney general hopeful Brad Schimel speaking at training seminars while his earlier decision saying they should be made public is appealed. Dane County Circuit Judge Richard Niess (nees) ruled Monday that the state Department of Justice’s rights to appeal his ruling making the tapes public would be irreparably harmed if he allowed them to come out now. But Niess also says there is nothing “particularly earth-shaking” on the tapes. Democrats sued to obtain videos that they believe show Schimel making inappropriate remarks at training seminars between 2009 and 2013. Niess ordered them released, but DOJ appealed to the state appeals court. Democratic Party attorney Dan Bach says he will decide later Monday whether to appeal Niess’s decision.
