Fond du lac and Ripon voters have overwhelmingly approved a resolution calling for an amendment to the U.S. constitution to regulate the flow of money to elections. Seventy three percent of Fond du lac residents and 78 percent of Ripon residents voted in favor in Tuesday’s election. Fond du lac resident Judy Goldsmith says Wisconsin Move to Amend supports a constitutional amendment that reads inalienable rights belong to human beings and that money is not a form of protected free speech under the First Amendment and can be regulated in political campaigns. She says citizens are losing representation and says huge corporate donations, many from out of state have too much influence on elections at the local, state and national level.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
