11-10-14 polar vortex returns

todayNovember 9, 2014

Remember last winter’s bitter cold and the polar vortex?   Its back this week with temperatures plummeting well below normal for this time of year.  National Weather Service meteorologist Sarah Marquardt says it’s all triggered by  a Super Typhoon named Nuri.  Marquardt says it’s a reminder of the dreaded polar vortex that hit the region last winter.  Starting Tuesday cold air will start to settle into our region.  We’re looking at highs around 30 for the middle and end of the week and low temperatures in the teens and maybe the single digits by the end of the week,”  Marquardt told WFDL news.  The cold weather is expected to last for several days over much of the country before the polar vortex goes back to where it belongs — in Canada.
