Five people were injured in a two vehicle accident in Washington County Tuesday evening. The crash happened near the intersection of County Trunk Z and Paradise Drive in the Town of West Bend. The Washington County Sheriff’s Department says a vehicle driven by a 20 year old West Bend woman was southbound on Z, turned onto Paradise Drive, and immediately conducted a “U” turn, at which time the vehicle entered the northbound lane of Z directly in front of a Washington County Taxi minibus. The West Bend woman was extricated from her vehicle, transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital, and then flown to Froedtert Hospital by Flight for Life with what are are believed to be serious injuries. The Washington County Tax minibus was being operated by a 52 year old West Bend woman and was occupied by three passengers. All were transported to the hospital for minor injuries and/or precautionary purposes. The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
