MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is reminding deer hunters their caps must be at least 50 percent blaze orange. The DNR says wardens sometimes come across hunters with caps that don’t meet the requirement and others with faded orange caps. Officials say wardens will be carrying orange knit hats to give out to hunters when the 2014 gun season starts on Saturday.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
