1-8-15 political observers say walker presidential run is likely

todayJanuary 8, 2015

Political observers say it appears more likely that Governor Scott Walker will run for president in 2016 and congressman Paul Ryan will not.  WisPolitics.com editor J.R. Ross says Walker can continue to serve as  governor and run for president at the same time.  “He will run for president, for sure,”  Ross told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program.  “There’s almost no way at this point the governor Walker will not be at least testing the waters in 2015 and in Iowa in 2016.”   Ross says at the same time is appears more unlikely that Ryan would give up a powerful position in the U.S. House as chairman of the Ways and Means Committee to run for president.  Ross says Ryan is still young and has plenty of time to think about a run for president down the road.  Ross says Walker is young too, but timing is everything.  Walker has said he doesn’t believe his consideration of a run for president as a distraction as he works on solving a $2.2 billion budget shortfall.
