Scammers and thieves stepped up their efforts to steal your money or identity last year. Wisconsin Department of Ag, Trade and Consumer Protection spokesman Jim Dick tells WFDL news identity theft complaints saw a double digit increase in 2014. Dick says overall complaints filed by Wisconsin consumers were up more than ten percent and four out of the top five categories of consumer complaints all saw substantial increases. Telemarketing complaints topped the list again, making up 19 percent of total complaints. Complaints in the telecommunications category, including cable, internet, phone service, satellite and cellular plans increased by 31 percent. Rounding out the top five are landlord-tennant complaints at number 2, telecommunications number 3, 4th on the list is identity theft followed by fuel-heating complaints.
