The Fond du Lac County Board has approved the issuance of nearly five million dollars in general obligation promissory notes to help pay for several projects. The projects include renovating County Highway I which runs next to Highway 23, purchasing land for a new county garage, the UW Fond du lac energy project, and new human services software. County executive Al Buechel says low interest rates make it cheaper to borrow at this time.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
