More than half of the cats removed from a Campbellsport area trailer home last month have been euthanized. Fond du Lac animal shelter Manager Renee Webb tells WFDL news 25 of the 39 cats removed from the residence have been put down. Webb says the 14 surving cats and a dog continue to recover at the shelter. Meanwhile charges against the owner have been referred to the District Attorney’s office. Webb says it was the worst case of animal hoarding she has ever seen.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
