The Fond du Lac School Board has scheduled a special meeting Monday evening and will meet behind closed doors to discuss a lease with Fond du lac Baseball Inc. The 15 year lease involving ownership of the Woodworth Baseball Complex expires at the end of the month. A two year contract proposed by the school district would transfer property ownership to the District and youth baseball would be run through the Recreation Department. Fond du Lac Baseball Inc. president Tim Twohig says the proposed contract is unfair to those who have donated their time and money to build the facility. School superintendent Dr. Jim Sebert says a new modernized lease would ensure more equitable and appropropriate use of the ball diamonds and that high school staff and the Recreation Department would be able to determine who can practice and play on the property.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
