Wisconsin emergency management is reminding residents to take common sense precautions during this bitter cold snap. Emergency management’s Tod Pritchard says when its this cold it doesn’t take long for frostbite to occur. “When we start getting into these minus 25, minus 30-35 windchills, you’re looking at frostbite that can set in in ten minutes or so,’ Pritchard told WFDL news.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
