The Department of Public Works would like to inform the motoring public of the emergency closure of the Arndt Street Bridge between Satterlee Street and Lincoln Avenue. The bridge is currently closed and will remain closed until after the temporary emergency repairs are made Monday, May 11th. Additionally, Arndt Street between Brooke Street and Satterlee Street will be closed starting Thursday, May 14th. The street will remain closed until Wednesday, May 20th. The closure is due Canadian National making repairs to the railroad tracks. The public is asked to plan an alternate route during this time as there will not be a marked detour.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
