A state patrol trooper who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty will be honored at a memorial ceremony in Fond du Lac next week. The City of Fond du Lac Police Department will be hosting its annual National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Ceremony on Friday, May 15. The ceremony will begin at 2:00PM and will be held at the Police/Fire Memorial at Hamilton Park. The ceremony is open to the public to help pay tribute to the more than 20,000 law enforcement officers that have been killed in the line of duty in the United States. This year’s ceremony will include a special tribute to the members of the Wisconsin State Patrol and Trooper Trevor Casper who was shot and killed in the City of Fond du Lac on March 24th.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
