5-11-15 missing zoo animals

todayMay 10, 2015

GREENVILLE, Wis. (AP) — A five-month-old kangaroo and four baby goats have been taken from an Outagamie County zoo.  A zookeeper at the Special Memories Zoo in Greenville says she noticed the five animals gone Wednesday when she was getting ready to move them from the off-site facility to the zoo. Zookeeper Gretchen Crowe says a joey needs its mother during the first year to survive. She also says the female kangaroo’s pouch was damaged and she hopes it will heal.  Zoo owner Dona Wheeler says the shelter wasn’t locked but they’ve never had an issue before. She says she now plans to keep the facility locked and add security cameras.  The Outagamie County Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
