The Salvation Army is celebrating its 150th birthday this week. This is National Salvation Army week, marking the founding of the organization in England in 1865. Fond du lac Salvation Army Captain Telinda Wilson says the Fond du Lac Salvation Army was founded 125 years ago. Wilson says the Fond du Lac Salvation Army is proud to showcase its newly renovated facility at an open house earlier this week. “We just got done with all of our building renovations. We use to have the day care in here and there was a lot of space that wasn’t really being utilized to the fullest potential. Wilson says a new archery range is expected to open soon in the Salvation Army gymnasium. “We are hoping to do some free sessions this summer with kids and adults. If you would like to learn how to shoot and have never done that before its a great opportunity,” Wilson told WFDL news. The Salvation Army offers food and other assistance to people in need.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
