5-28-15 dodge county sheriff says informed community is a safe community

The Dodge County Sheriff says an informed community is a safer community.  Sheriff Dale Schmidt says that was the purpose of a community notification meeting  Wednesday night to inform the public of a court order that two convicted child sex offenders are being released from prison and will be living in Dodge County.  Schmidt says Jonathon Miller and Robert Larson served time in prison for child sex offenses and now will be living at a residence on Highway 49 a little over a mile west of Brownsville.  “These individuals are placed in this location for a year.  At that point they have the opportunity to petition the court for different privileges,”  Schmidt told WFDL news.  Schmidt says both individuals are under strict supervision and are being closely monitored and must wear a GPS monitoring bracelet.  “They are monitored by the 24-7 monitoring center in Madison.  There is an area around their home that if they leave that area the monitoring center will immediately notify their (parole) agents who will notify us,”  Schmidt said.  In addition Schmidt says the Department of Corrections provides a chaperone for both individuals should they leave the residence for any reason.  “That person must remain with them at all times, even if its to go to work…within an arms reach.”
