The Fond du Lac County Public Health officer says a Fond du Lac toddler is expected to fully recover as he continues treatment for lead poisoning. Public Health officer Kim Mueller says the one year old boy became sick after eating lead paint chips that had peeled off the windowsill in his home. The family is staying temporarily at a motel until a lead abatement project in their home is completed. “He will be fine, they’re doing everything that they need to do, all the necessary steps to get the lead out of his body,” Mueller told WFDL news. Mueller says it’s a reminder for potential home owners that its probably a good idea to have a lead test done if your home was built before 1978.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
