A Watertown man convicted of sexually assaulting a 13 year old girl will spend some time in jail. Dodge County Circuit Court Judge Steven Bauer handed down a withheld sentence of five years probation to 23 year old Dylan Zimmerman. As a condition of probation, Zimmerman must serve six months in jail. In March, Zimmerman pleaded no contest to a charge of second degree sexual assault of a child. According to a criminal complaint, Zimmerman had sexual intercourse with the teen at a park. Zimmerman and the victim had previously met at a community center in Watertown.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
