The Department of Public Works would like to inform the motoring public of the eastbound lane closure on East 1st Street between Portland Street and Marr Street. The closure will begin Wednesday, June 17th and will remain closed for approximately two weeks. Access to driveways and local businesses will remain open. The closure is due to contractor work being completed at 54 E 1st Street. The public is asked to find an alternative route during this time as the will not be a posted detour.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
