The longtime Fond du lac Area United Way director is stepping down. Tina Potter is retiring after 10 years at the helm. The United Way Board president says a search is underway to find a new director. A press release says Amber Kilawee will serve as interim director during the search. Kilawee has worked for United Way since 2007. The press release says under Potter’s leadership, the Fond du Lac Area United Way raised $7.4 million in donations and grew the United Way Operational Endowment Fund to $70,000.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
