BOULDER JUNCTION, Wis. (AP) — Authorities have recovered the body of a Florida man who fell overboard while fishing in a northern Wisconsin lake. The Vilas County sheriff’s office says the body of 62-year-old Charles Armitage of Mount Dora, Florida, was recovered about 8:45 a.m. Wednesday. The sheriff’s office got a 911 call about a drowning on White Sand Lake in Boulder Junction Tuesday afternoon. Authorities say Armitage was fishing with his brother when he fell overboard. The victim was not wearing a life jacket.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
