7-10-15 schraa-state budget

todayJuly 9, 2015

A Republican member of the legislature’s jt. Finance committee says he doesn’t believe the governor will make any significant changes to the budget with his veto pen.   The legislature passed the budget this week sending the $73 billion dollar two year spending plan to governor Scott Walker.  “When we have our jt. finance meetings a member of the governor’s staff is there.  We’re able to kind of get a feeling whether or not  the governor supports this or that,”  Schraa told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program.  “I’m not aware of anything glaring that I know he is absolutely going to veto.”   State representative Michael Schraa of Oshkosh says overall he’s satisfied with the budget.    Scrhraa says the state needs to get a handle on Medicaid and Medicare.  “Our revenues were up for the state but our spending for Medicaid and Medicare are just growing astronomically,”  Schraa said.  “That’s what’s killing our budget and we’re going to be back here every two years if we don’t get a handle on our Medicaid and Medicare spending.”
