LAS VEGAS (AP) — Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is making his first stop in Nevada as a presidential candidate. The Silver State is the first of four states Walker will visit following his Monday evening announcement that he’s running for president. He swung by a Las Vegas Harley Davidson dealership on Tuesday to tout his everyman story and his conservative credentials. Walker boasted about how he tamed unions in Wisconsin, enacted strict welfare requirements and voter ID. He also vowed to overturn President Obama’s proposed nuclear deal with Iran if elected president. Walker is one of several Republicans competing for his party’s presidential nomination. Nevada will be one of the first states to choose a nominee.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
