A Brownsville man has been placed on probation for a robbery of a Brownsville gas station. Judge Steve Bauer placed 18 year old Alec Ryan, on probation for five years with six months’ conditional jail time. Ryan was convicted of a reduced charge of Robbery with Threat of Force for an incident that occurred at Cole’s BP in Brownsville on November 17, 2014. Dodge County District Attorney Kurt Klomberg argued for a five year prison sentence followed by five years of Extended Supervision.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
