The Dodge County Sheriff says a fatal crash this week involving two semis is a case in point the dangers of trying to make a u-turn in the median of a major interstate. The driver of a semi was killed when his rig slammed into a semi trying to make a u-turn after apparently missing his stop while traveling north on Interstate 41 near Lomira. Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt says those turn around lanes are only for law enforcement, rescue or highway vehicles. “The reason for that is because often times you have people trying to make those u-turns, you don’t realize how fast those cars coming,” Schmidt said. “….especially with the volume of traffic on a highway like Interstate 41.” Schmidt says in this latest crash the semi would have been able to take another off-ramp just a couple miles down the road.
