A motorcyclist has died after a collision with a pickup truck Friday in Washington County. The accident happened at the intersection of Highway 164 and Hubertus Road in the Village of Richfield. The Washington County Sheriff’s Department says the southbound pick-up truck was attempting to turn onto Hubertus Road , when it turned in front of the northbound motorcycle, causing a head-on collision. The motorcycle operator, a 28 year old Town of Hartford man, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet. The pickup driver, a 75 year old Town of Polk man, and his 73 year old female passenger, were not injured. The accident remains under investigation.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
