The Fond du Lac Area United Way has kicked off this year’s fundraising campaing. United Way Executive Director Amber Kilawee says this year’s goal is $756,000. Kilawee says Brenner Tank and Society insurance are the pace setters this year’s fund drive. “We are just under $120,000. Brenner Tank and Society Insurance account for half of that kick-off goal,” Kilawee said. This Wednesday the United Way is teaming up with Holiday Automotive and Ford with a Drive4ur Community event. You can test drive a Ford vehicle with Ford donating up to $6000 to the United Way. The event will be held from 11am to 3pm at Brenner Tank.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
