Fond du lac police say they are satisfied with the sentence given a naked home intruder. Lucas Leffel was sentenced last week to 18 years in prison and 12 years extended supervision. Assistant Police chief Steve Thiry says Leffel was naked when he entered four occupied homes in the middle of the night…touching a woman while she was sleeping. Thiry says the concern is that an intruder such as Leffel may have escalated his behavior until he was caught. “You think about where people should feel the most safe and most protected and that’s in their homes,” Thiry told WFDL news. Thiry says these were crimes of opportunity and a reminder for residents to keep their doors locked at night. In the end it was Leffel’s mother who turned her son in.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
