MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin Department of Justice is reviewing a complaint filed by nine Republican lawmakers alleging that the state elections board routinely violated the open meetings law. The lawmakers sent Attorney General Brad Schimel a letter Wednesday alleging that testimony by Government Accountability Board Chairman Gerald Nichol “raised serious questions” about whether the law was violated. DOJ spokeswoman Anne Schwartz says the letter is under review.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
