10-15-15 attorney general-videos lawsuit

todayOctober 14, 2015

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Wisconsin state appeals court has ruled that Attorney General Brad Schimel must release two training videos that he wanted to keep secret, saying there is no reason to withhold them. The 2nd District Court of Appeals ruled unanimously Wednesday that Schimel must release the videos made when he was Waukesha County district attorney in 2009 and 2013. The court affirms a ruling made last year by a Dane County circuit judge ordering that the videos be released.  The Wisconsin Democratic Party sued the state Department of Justice for release of the videos in 2014, arguing before Schimel was elected as attorney general that they must be released under the open records law.
