A Ripon man is charged in a robbery at a Kwik Trip in Oshkosh. 45-year-old William Vessell is facing a charge of armed robbery and bail jumping, both as a repeat offender, following a court appearance in Winnebago County Circuit Court Monday. According to a criminal complaint, on January 3rd, Vessell went to the Kwik Trip on S. Washburn Street and wandered around in the store until it was empty. Vessell then told the clerk to open the cash register drawer, put his hand in is coat pocket and asked for money. Vessell left when people began to enter the store. Police later found the car Vessell was in and interviewed the driver – who stated Vessell had gone in to pay for gas, came out a while later and then asked to go to a location in the 1100 block of Jefferson Street to buy some crack cocaine. If convicted, Vessell faces more than 48 years in prison. He’s due back in court Thursday.
