A Brownsville man was arrested following a high speed chase in Fond du Lac over the weekend. The chase started shortly before 4:30am Saturday on West 9th Street near the Aquatic Center and continued on South Military Road with speeds near 90 miles an hour. The chase ended near Highwway 151 when the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a snowbank. The 20 year old driver tried to flee on foot but was apprehended after a sheriff’s deputy used a Taser. The driver faces charges of OWI and eluding an officer.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
