The Fond du Lac Area United Way has just a few days to reach its goal before the United Way Board makes its allocation decisions for the year. United Way director Amber Kilawee says she hopes the $756,000 goal can still be met before the board meets this Thursday to decide how to allocate money to the 28 member agencies. Kilawee says as of today the fund drive is about $43,000 short of the goal.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
