The Fond du Lac County Dairy and Livestock agent says area dairy farmers are crossing their fingers that milk prices come back up before too long. Dairy economists say milk used to make cheese is down 19 percent compared to last year and more than 40 percent from its peak in 2014. Dairy and Livestock extension agent Tina Coleman says in addition to fewer exports, less milk is being sold in the grocery store.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
