Unseasonably mild weather means an early start to the golf season. The driving range at Fond du lac County’s Rolling Meadows golf course opened Tuesday and golf pro Jeremiah Hoffman says the course opened for play Wednesday. Last year the course set a record for revenue and Hoffman says an early start is always helpful. ‘We had a really good year last year, set some benchmarks in sales,” Hoffman told WFDL news. In 1996 the course opened for play on March 6th. In other years the course hasn’t opened until April.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
