OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) — A man is dead after he was struck by a freight train in Oshkosh. Police say the Canadian National train was headed north into the city when it struck the 20-year-old Oshkosh man early Saturday. The collision did not happen at an intersection with a road or at a pedestrian crossing. Police don’t know why the man was on the tracks. His name has not been released.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
