The Fond du Lac city council will consider a proposal to allow a Midway with carnival rides, food and games at Walleye Weekend. The council will consider a resolution at their meeting Wednesday night. Fond du Lac Festivals Board member Steve Fleming says its something that would help keep the festival fresh by adding new activities. “Its very difficult to maintain a quality festival that’s free,” Fleming told WFDL news. “To be able to maintain a good festival that’s able to do that, its really a challenge to grow sponsorship.” Fleming says Spectrum Entertainment out of Ironwood, Michigan would provide 10 to 14 rides, games and two food trailers in an area near Frazier Point. Fleming says he believes the food trailers on the Midway would compliment the food stands operated by the non-profit organizations. The Advisory Park Board is recommending the Midway be allowed for a one year trial.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
