A bill that would relax high-capacity well regulations in the state of Wisconsin made it through another hurdle this morning, as the state senate votes to approve it.
The bill was supposed to be voted on last night, but a vote was blocked by Democrats.
Ultimately it was approved 19-13.
The bill would exempt well repairs, replacements, reconstructions and ownership transfers from state oversight, and also calls for studies to be done to determine whether special protection is needed to prevent ground and surface water from depletion.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
