Danger signs are posted around a Fond du Lac church after bricks started falling from the historic building. St. Mary Catholic Church at the corner of Merrill and Marquette Streets is barricaded with chain link fencing and orange tape and the words “Danger do not enter.” Church officials say repair work on the church towers will begin as soon as possible. The front door and ramp entrance will remain open but the southwest entrance is closed until the repairs are made. A rededication Mass was held a year ago following a $150,000 renovation project.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
